Update to page

when I sign into admin to update a page it comes as a CSS ( think that is what it is)  ti has symbols llike <p> then text.  Before it was the page as shown and I could just add by typing straight to the page and then save.  What am I doing wrong?

You need to click on the button  Visual/HTML [+/-] on the top right in the editor to change back.
